IN MINEMBWE THE FARDC AND THE FDNB ASK THE BANYAMULENGE TO RETURN HOME TO RWANDA!
In an interview with one of the customary chiefs of the Banyamulenge community yesterday morning, the deputy commander (S2) of the 12th FARDC rapid intervention brigade based in Minembwe, asked the said chief to ask the Twirwaneho to leave the mountain range. surrounding Minembwe and return “home to Rwanda” where they came from. Exactly the same request that the government formulates towards the M23!
The Banyamulenge inhabited the Congo before the latter existed as a country, that is to say before the Berlin conference which divided Africa into pieces called countries.
To ask the Banyamulenge to return to a country they have never lived in is a crime against humanity. Forced statelessness is punished by international conventions to which DR Congo is a signatory.
Twirwaneho is a civil self-defense of the Banyamulenge (all then) who are threatened by a coalition of militias (mayimayi) from neighboring tribes and foreign militias who receive support from the FARDC. Several reports by United Nations experts have documented this collaboration between the national army (FARDC) and the militias that kill the Banyamulenge.
The Burundian army, which is in coalition with the mayimayi Rusheba, Kijangala and the FARDC, must be extremely skilful in this game of alliances. It risks falling into a trap of ethnic cleansing and genocide that has been going on for several decades.
Twirwaneho, civil self-defense, has never formed any coalition with local militias and even less with foreign armed groups. Its objective is the protection of an ethnic group threatened with extermination for several decades.
The request of the FARDC (and ipso facto of the Kinshasa government) to see the Twirwaneho return “to their home in Rwanda”, overlaps with that of the local Mayimayi militias. Proof that these militias are well coordinated from Kinshasa.
The Banyamulenge are Congolese of father and mother, who have the right to protection. No one – no matter how powerful he is – can force them to leave their country. They will resist such a threat with the utmost vigor. Neither the DR Congo nor Burundi and even less any coalition will force him to leave their motherland.
Homeland or death we will conquer.
